Jean-marc Boillot, Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, 2018
White
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
🏰 The 2018 vintage for white Burgundy was characterized by a hot and dry summer, yet it delivered wines that are unusually fleshy, open, and easily differentiate their terroirs. Despite high yields, producers managed to craft wines with compelling length of flavor and good energy, even with analytically low acidities. Jean-Marc Boillot's Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from 2018 would embody this style, offering richness and concentration while retaining freshness and vibrancy. Critics noted the excellent terroir definition and a fleshy, layered, delicious character with modest minerality, avoiding the 'warm-weather-spice' often found in other hot vintages. 【 Fleshy, open, and terroir-expressive 】
🍴 This opulent Grand Cru white Burgundy demands pairings that can stand up to its richness. Think roasted lobster with butter sauce, pan-seared scallops with truffle, or rich poultry dishes like capon or guinea fowl. It also excels with mature, creamy cheeses.
🥂 An exceptional wine for a celebratory dinner, a high-end tasting event, or to mark a significant personal achievement. It's a wine to be savored and discussed, perfect for showcasing the grandeur of white Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine J.M. Boillot (also known as Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot) is a Burgundy wine estate producing pure, aromatic wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The operation is based in Pommard but it makes a large range of wines from numerous appellations mostly located in the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Marc Boillot worked with his grandfather Henri Boillot between the late 60s and 1984 when he became winemaker for Olivier Leflaive. He created his own domaine in 1989 after inheriting vines from his grandfather, and later from his maternal grandmother, Etienne Sauzet's daughter.
