🏰Philippe Pacalet's Cornas 2017 is a vibrant expression of Syrah, renowned for its natural winemaking philosophy and its ability to capture the essence of Cornas' 'scorched earth' terroir with elegance and energy. The 2017 vintage, despite high temperatures and rainfall deficits, produced concentrated yet elegant and soft wines, with an irreproachable sanitary state and great grape balance. This wine showcases a beautiful violet to dark ruby red color, offering a solid and mineral-driven profile with a characteristic violet bouquet, spicy, fruity (peaches), and floral notes, hints of licorice, and velvety tannins.
🍴 This elegant and concentrated Cornas is an excellent match for roasted lamb, grilled red meats, or rich stews. Its spicy and savory notes also complement dishes with black olives or tapenade.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner or a serious tasting session, this wine is best enjoyed from 2020 through 2035, though some suggest it needs at least five more years of bottle age to truly hit its stride. Decanting is recommended to allow its complex aromas to fully develop.
