【An unusual and intriguing Champagne that incorporates all six grape varieties permitted within Champagne, celebrating ancient traditions.】 This 2005 Champagne Brut, "Campaniae Veteres Vites" (Latin for "old vines of Campania"), signifies the use of older, rarer grape varieties in the blend, reflecting Aubry's philosophy of rigor, respect for tradition, originality, and creativity. The blend includes Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Petit Meslier, Arbanne, Meunier, and Chardonnay. It is a full-throated wine, replete with ripe fruit, full-bodied and rich, with weight and intensity. Its yellow fruit is laced with complex acidity from citrus. The nose is classic with bready, lemon notes, pear, stone fruit hints, and floral aromas accompanied by notes of yeast. On the palate, it is crisp, clean, and delivers a lovely mousse, fresh, pleasant, and savory, with a persistent finish. Some notes suggest it presents slightly evolved notes and is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.
