【A top-quality red wine from Ribera del Duero, praised for its fresh and expressive flavors and a refined, almost Burgundian sense of texture.】 Flor de Pingus is the esteemed second wine from Dominio de Pingus, crafted by the visionary winemaker Peter Sisseck. Sourced from old Tempranillo vines on clay-limestone soils in La Horra, the 2021 vintage is considered a more ethereal and serious expression, subtle and very balanced, akin to the styles of 2018 and 2016. A co-fermentation with about 3% Garnacha contributes to its freshness. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 20% new oak, and approximately 104,000 to 110,000 bottles are produced.
This vintage displays an opaque ruby-purple hue. The complex and subtle aromas include sour cherry and blueberry intertwined with rose, herbs, and garrigue hints, alongside dark cherries, ripe fresh blueberries, slate, violets, and a touch of graphite. The palate is dry and velvety, with a balanced, intense, chalky character that's high on energy. It is rich yet linear, offering great concentration, fine tannins, and a very long, precise finish. Expect a full-bodied wine with dense fruit, very fine but firm tannins, juicy acidity, and a long, mineral, savory finish. It shows a lovely counterpoint between freshness and generosity, with expressive plum sauce and warm fig flavors, accented by vanilla, cedar, leafy herbs, and spices.

This robust Spanish red is perfect with hearty red meats like grilled steak, lamb chops, or slow-cooked beef stew. For a more adventurous pairing, try it with a rich mole poblano. Aged cheeses such as Manchego or cheddar also complement its complex flavors beautifully.
