🏰 The 2022 Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny is a **strikingly gorgeous red Burgundy**, capturing the pure essence and elegance of Chambolle-Musigny with its silk and perfume. From a benchmark producer known for masterfully crafted wines even in warm vintages, this wine is made with organic practices and gentle vinification to let the fruit and soil speak. It offers an elegant bouquet of red berries, sous-bois, and pressed flowers, with subtle plum, violet, and red/dark currant aromas.
🍴 This graceful yet vivid wine pairs wonderfully with roast poultry, duck, game birds, or even richer fish dishes.
🥂 An exceptional wine perfect for any occasion, especially for those who appreciate purity, elegance, and lightness in Burgundian reds. It is recommended to drink from 2028-2035, allowing its full complexity to unfold.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most prominent producers in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of Burgundy, known for its intense, ageworthy wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The estate was founded by Marcel Noëllat in the early 20th century. Marcel's daughter married Gaston Barthod, an officer in the French army stationed in Dijon. They developed the domaine together over the decades. After Gaston's death in 1999, their daughter Ghislaine took over, having managed the estate for the previous decade. Ghislaine and her partner Louis Boillot combine vineyard work across their respective domaines, but the estates are run separately and the wines are produced in their respective wineries.
