🏰 Hudelot-Noellat's 2011 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a 【highly perfumed, silky red Burgundy, offering a veritable rose garden on the nose with delicate red fruit and floral spice】. The 2011 vintage for Burgundy reds was considered a 'breath of fresh air,' initially lean but developing beautifully with time, emphasizing perfume. This wine is described as having a nose like a rose garden, pale in color, mid-weight, and very red-fruited, with floral spice and a chalky chew on the persistent finish. It also shows notes of cherries, violets, earthiness, and a subtle cola note after aeration.
🍴 This elegant Grand Cru Burgundy pairs wonderfully with classic French dishes such as roasted duck breast, veal tenderloin with morel mushrooms, or a delicate coq au vin. For an Asian pairing, consider a refined Cantonese roast pigeon or a light soy-braised chicken.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or a vertical tasting of fine Burgundy, showcasing the nuanced beauty of a well-aged Pinot Noir.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat primarily cultivates Pinot Noir. The estate was founded in 1960 and is located in the village of Clos Vougeot. The original owner, Alain, married the granddaughter of the renowned Charles Noëllat from Vosne-Romanée, bringing with her several valuable vineyard plots as dowry. The vineyards are primarily located in Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-St-Georges, covering a total of 6.6 hectares. The estate is currently managed by Charles Van Canneyt. In 2005, winemaker Vincent Munier joined the team.
