Red
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
🏰 The 2021 Joseph Roty Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas is a serious and compact effort, noted for its 【depth and persistence, punching at Premier Cru quality】 and fitting its terroir like a glove. This mid-purple red Burgundy offers a vivacious bouquet of perfumed redcurrant and cranberry fruit, quite floral, with brooding and earthier notes of red and dark berries, violet, herbal tea, and wood. The medium-bodied palate features grainy tannins, citrus-fresh orange rind, and hints of white pepper, fanning out wonderfully on the finish. It boasts good volume and richness, with lovely intensity and a balanced, firmly structured, and persistent finish.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir is an excellent pairing for veal, game (deer, venison), roasted duck, or coq au vin. It also complements mushroom-based dishes and medium-aged cheeses beautifully.
🥂 Ideal for a special dinner or a gathering of Burgundy enthusiasts. This wine is built for aging and will need patience, with an optimal drinking window suggested from 2027-2033. It will benefit from several years in the cellar to fully integrate its new wood and develop its complexities.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Joseph Roty is one of Burgundy's leading wineries with the largest cult following in the country. The family has been producing wine since 1710 and has 12 hectares (30 acres) of vines with an average age of over 60 years, producing a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines considered to be some of the best on the Côte d'Or. one. The core estate is none other than Joseph Rotti, himself a legend in the region who died in 2008 not only because of the quality of the wines, but also because of his reluctance to be interviewed by reporters and share details of their winemaking methods.
