🏰 The 2020 vintage in Burgundy is celebrated for producing wines of remarkable concentration and power, and this Joseph Roty Gevrey Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas 1er Cru is no exception, offering a 【vibrant expression of dark cherry and earthy minerality】. Expect a youthful yet intense bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, intertwined with classic Gevrey notes of forest floor, game, and a hint of spice. The palate is likely to be structured and firm, with a promising depth that suggests excellent aging potential.
🍴 This powerful red Burgundy calls for rich, savory dishes. Think roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, pan-seared venison, or a classic Boeuf Bourguignon. For a more luxurious pairing, consider truffle-infused risotto or aged Comte cheese.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special occasion where a robust and age-worthy red Burgundy is desired. It's also an excellent choice for collectors looking to cellar a promising vintage.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Joseph Roty is one of Burgundy's leading wineries with the largest cult following in the country. The family has been producing wine since 1710 and has 12 hectares (30 acres) of vines with an average age of over 60 years, producing a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines considered to be some of the best on the Côte d'Or. one. The core estate is none other than Joseph Rotti, himself a legend in the region who died in 2008 not only because of the quality of the wines, but also because of his reluctance to be interviewed by reporters and share details of their winemaking methods.
