🏰 The 2014 Du Comte Liger Belair Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes 1er Cru is a 【bright, playful, and incredibly inviting wine, ranked among the top 10 Vosne-Romanee Les Chaumes wines】. Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair boasts over 200 years of family tradition in Burgundy winemaking. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy was a very fine year, producing wines with red-fruited clarity and spice-laced lift. This 1er Cru offers purity, lift, and elegance, with a beguiling bouquet of incense smoke, cloves, cardamom, crushed strawberries, mulberries, violets, and olives. On the palate, it's beautiful and elegant, showcasing pure red fruit and spices like sage and cloves, with brambly fruits, fine tannins, and impressive concentration and depth. Some tasters have noted a slightly herbal/medicinal quality or a tartness in its youth, which is expected to integrate with time.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with delicate meats such as roasted squab or herb-crusted rack of lamb. It also complements venison carpaccio, wild mushroom tarts, or mature, subtle cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a special dinner, a gathering of Burgundy lovers, or a celebratory occasion. It's perfectly drinkable now, but will continue to evolve beautifully.
BACKGROUND
Founded in 2000, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a relatively new wine producer in Burgundy, but the Liger-Belair family has experience in vineyards since 1815. . It is now managed by Louis-Michel Liguet, Comte de Belaire, who has begun planting vineyards again in Vonn-Romagne and Saint-Georges. Comte Liger-Belair now produces its only wine from La Romanée, a Grand Cru vineyard located on the Romanée-Conti hills. The domaine also owns land in several Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyards. Although the domaine is young, its wines are elegantly structured and highly sought after. La Romanée is one of the most expensive wines produced in Burgundy.
