The 2012 E. Guigal Hermitage Ex Voto Blanc is an extraordinary white wine from the Northern Rhône Valley, crafted only in exceptional vintages. This blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne undergoes an extensive 30-month aging in new oak, contributing to its profound complexity and richness. The 2012 vintage is highly lauded, earning 97 points from Wine Spectator and 96 from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. It presents a jaw-dropping display of white peach, creamed Jonagold apple, Cavaillon melon, and persimmon fruit flavors, intertwined with notes of citronella, chamomile, singed macadamia nut, and salted butter. The nose is aromatic and powerful, revealing acacia flowers, brioche, caramelized peach, quince, and a kiss of mint. This full-bodied, layered, and concentrated white wine offers fabulous mid-palate depth and a blockbuster finish, promising excellent aging potential through 2032. 【Its rarity, being produced only in exceptional vintages, and its consistent critical acclaim make it a truly unique offering】.
Food pairing suggestions: This opulent white wine pairs beautifully with rich seafood dishes like lobster or scallops, poultry in cream sauces, or dishes featuring truffles. It's also suggested to pair with aged cheeses such as Manchego and Parmesan.
Event suggestions: Perfect for a sophisticated fine dining experience, significant celebrations, or as a centerpiece for a serious wine tasting. Its aging potential also makes it an excellent candidate for cellaring.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
