Francois Raveneau, Chablis Blanchot Grand Cru, 2023
🏰 Domaine François Raveneau is a legendary name in Chablis, renowned for setting the gold standard for wines defined by purity, precision, and unforced grace. The 2023 Chablis vintage was marked by generous yields and wines with a supple, approachable charm. While some producers found the wines to be more 'Chardonnay-like' than typically Chablis in their youth, Raveneau's Blanchot Grand Cru is expected to be a standout. 【 A benchmark for Chablis Grand Cru, offering extraordinary finesse and focus 】. The 2023 Blanchot from Raveneau, sourced from old vines planted in the 1930s, offers aromas of pear, orange zest, beeswax, and wheat toast, with a beautifully balanced palate, killer acidity, and a long, saline finish. It's described as powerful yet restrained, carved from stone, and capable of aging for 20 to 30 years.
🍴 This powerful yet elegant Chablis Grand Cru is versatile. It pairs exquisitely with delicate crustaceans, pan-fried scallops, grilled lobster, or noble fish like turbot in beurre blanc sauce. For a more adventurous pairing, consider truffled dishes such as risotto with truffles or truffled egg brouillade. In Asian cuisine, it would complement steamed crab with garlic or delicate sashimi.
🥂 This wine is perfect for a celebratory seafood feast, a sophisticated tasting event, or as a centrepiece for a special anniversary. Its age-worthiness also makes it an excellent candidate for cellaring and enjoying decades down the line.
