🏰 Domaine Gauby is a true pioneer of Roussillon, firmly established as one of the leading estates in the Mediterranean, known for its obsessive care of vineyards and biodynamic farming principles. The Coume Gineste Blanc is Gérard Gauby's white flagship, produced from ancient Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris vines. The 2008 vintage in Roussillon was generally good, with September saving the region after a difficult June, July, and August. The grapes were small and thick-skinned, leading to low yields, but strict sorting resulted in good quality wines. White wines from this vintage are described as straightforward with good length. The 2008 vintage overall in Europe championed light- to medium-bodied wines with low alcohol and fresh acidity. Expect an almost explosive nose with 【lime and herbs over ripe honeyed fruit and intense mineral notes reminiscent of stone】. The palate offers citrus freshness with tremendous depth and complexity, leading to a long, honeyed finish. It has a stunning "chewy" texture and dominant minerality that vibrates the palate, giving the impression of coming from a much cooler vineyard. It's often compared to a stunning 布根地, but one that doesn't need sophisticated winemaking techniques to impress.
🍴 Excellent with rich fish dishes, roasted poultry, strong cheeses, or Mediterranean cuisine.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a tasting of unique white wines, or an exploration of Roussillon's finest.
