Joseph Drouhin, Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Marquis De Laguiche Blanc 1er Cru, 2016
🏰 The 2016 Burgundy vintage, though affected by frost, yielded concentrated crops and many beautiful wines. Joseph Drouhin's Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche Blanc 1er Cru 2016 is an 【utterly classical and pure expression, offering a luxurious yet precise profile with excellent power and concentration】. This white Burgundy reveals an admirable light golden color, with intense and elegant aromas of pear, lemon zest, pastry cream, chalky minerality, spring flowers, and vanillin oak. On the palate, expect lovely peach and white flowers, a hint of butterscotch, wet stone minerality, and a long, persistent finish.
🍴 This exquisite Premier Cru is a perfect match for rich and delicate dishes. Consider turbot in hollandaise sauce, veal sweetbreads golden in butter, chicken with morels, or well-aged Époisses cheese. It also shines with grilled lobster with lemon butter, pan-seared scallops with ceps, Bresse chicken in cream sauce, or a 24-month aged Comté. For a truly opulent experience, pair it with foie gras or lobster poached in butter with Oscietra caviar.
🥂 A wonderful occasion wine, ideal for fine dining, celebrations, or as a luxurious treat. This wine is considered a mid-term ager, with optimal consumption between 8 to 10 years and an aging potential of up to 15 years, suggesting it's still developing beautifully.
BACKGROUND
