🏰The 2011 Domaine Robert Groffier Pere & Fils Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is an incredibly thick and ripe red Burgundy with explosive fruit, showcasing seamless tannins, lovely length, and very good peppery lift. Despite 2011 being a difficult vintage for Burgundy, this wine stands out for its undeniable richness and thickness, with adequate acidity. It offers complex, expressive aromas of black raspberry, cassis, mocha, game, brown spices, and underbrush, with a silky entry and a thick yet alive mid-palate. The wine is dense and sappy, with an almost liqueur-like ripeness and flavors of blueberry and blackberry, finishing saline and strong with plenty of acids and tannins.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This rich and complex Pinot Noir would be excellent with Cantonese roasted goose, or a hearty braised pork belly with preserved vegetables. For Western cuisine, it's a classic pairing for duck, goose, and other game birds.
🥂 fit for event suggestion: An ideal wine for a special occasion, a fine dining experience, or a Burgundy tasting. It is in a good spot right now and can be enjoyed, but some notes suggest it could benefit from further aging.
