🏰 Domaine Henri Germain is often hailed as 【Meursault's best-kept secret, offering classically balanced, artisanal white Burgundy built to age.】 The 2018 Meursault Limozin vintage was described as 'quite classic, with average acidities and no extremes of alcohol,' resulting in harmonious and charming wines that are unusually approachable by Germain's standards. On the nose, it wafts with notes of ripe pear, orange rind, hazelnuts, and sourdough, alongside hints of white peach, lemongrass, and spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and lively, with a broad attack and a saline finish. Expect a rich and concentrated profile, balanced by chalky dry extract and good acidity.
🍴 This classic Meursault pairs beautifully with rich fish like salmon or tuna, pasta dishes, and mild, soft cheeses. Its complexity also makes it an excellent match for delicate dishes such as pan-seared scallops or roasted chicken with herbs.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a quiet evening of contemplation for the serious wine enthusiast. It can be enjoyed young, but will also reward cellaring for at least 5 to 10 years to fully develop its crystalline profile and finesse.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Germain is located in the village of Meursault in Burgundy, France. The primary grape varieties cultivated are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The estate was founded in 1973 when Henri Germain purchased some Meursault vineyards from his wife's family, the Pillots, and acquired additional land in Chassagne. Currently, the domaine owns around 7 hectares of land, spread across Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Beaune.
