🏰 The 2014 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair La Romanée Grand Cru is a 【brilliant and highly sought-after expression from Burgundy's smallest Grand Cru vineyard】, known for its exceptional precision and elegance. Despite climatic challenges in 2014, a warm September allowed for focused ripening, resulting in a wine of intricate complexity. It offers a crisp and precise nose with black cherries, bergamot, blackberry, and notes of orange sorbet, evolving into delicate red fruit, violets, and peony rose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, crisp acidity, and a touch of salinity, showcasing outstanding intensity and superb length with a tantalizingly poised finish. This wine is a testament to the domaine's masterful touch and the unique terroir.
🍴 This exquisite Grand Cru Pinot Noir demands equally refined food pairings. Consider classic Burgundian dishes like Coq au Vin, roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, or delicate preparations of venison. It also pairs beautifully with truffle-infused dishes or aged, mild cheeses like Comté or Époisses.
🥂 An ideal wine for significant celebrations, a prestigious wine tasting, or as a cornerstone of a serious Burgundy collection. Its poise and age-worthy structure make it a discerning addition to any fine wine portfolio.
BACKGROUND
Founded in 2000, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a relatively new wine producer in Burgundy, but the Liger-Belair family has experience in vineyards since 1815. . It is now managed by Louis-Michel Liguet, Comte de Belaire, who has begun planting vineyards again in Vonn-Romagne and Saint-Georges. Comte Liger-Belair now produces its only wine from La Romanée, a Grand Cru vineyard located on the Romanée-Conti hills. The domaine also owns land in several Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyards. Although the domaine is young, its wines are elegantly structured and highly sought after. La Romanée is one of the most expensive wines produced in Burgundy.
