Duluc is the second wine of Château Branaire-Ducru, a Fourth Growth estate in Saint-Julien, known for its elegance and classic Bordeaux character. While specific tasting notes for this particular bottle are scarce due to its age, one can anticipate a wine that has evolved beautifully over the decades. Expect a bouquet of dried fruits, leather, tobacco, and forest floor, with earthy undertones. The fruit will have softened, and the tannins will be wonderfully integrated, offering a smooth and harmonious palate. 【Elegant, mature Saint-Julien from a highly-regarded Bordeaux vintage】.
🍴 This mature Bordeaux is an exquisite companion for classic French cuisine. It pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef Wellington, and dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles. Aged hard cheeses would also make a delightful pairing, complementing the wine's evolved complexities.
🥂 This wine is a perfect choice for a special occasion, particularly for those who appreciate the grace and complexity that only time can impart to a fine Bordeaux. It's an ideal centerpiece for an anniversary dinner or a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts.
Serving Advice for an Older Vintage: This 1985 vintage is a beautiful example of a mature Bordeaux, offering a glimpse into the elegance of an older style. Expect delicate aromas and a softer palate compared to its youth. Be mindful of the cork, which can be fragile with age; a Durand opener or similar tool is recommended for extraction. Decant gently for 30-60 minutes to separate any sediment and allow the wine to breathe, but avoid over-decanting as very old wines can fade quickly. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), to best appreciate its nuanced profile.
