🏰 The 2022 vintage in Burgundy is generally anticipated to be a very good to excellent year, with favorable growing conditions leading to ripe, concentrated, and balanced wines. Joseph Roty's Bourgogne Cuvée de Pressonniers, a red Burgundy, is known for its traditional style, often showcasing a darker fruit profile and a more structured character than many regional Burgundies. While specific tasting notes for the 2022 are yet to be widely released, one can expect a wine with vibrant red and black cherry fruit, earthy undertones, and a firm tannic backbone that promises good aging potential, even at the Bourgogne level. It embodies the Roty family's dedication to expressing the terroir with intensity and depth.
🍴 This robust Bourgogne Rouge would be a fantastic partner for classic French bistro fare, such as coq au vin, beef bourguignon, or grilled lamb chops. It also pairs well with earthy mushroom dishes and a variety of hard and semi-hard cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a hearty dinner with friends, a casual gathering, or as a versatile everyday drinking wine for those who appreciate the more serious side of regional Burgundy. It's a wine that offers both immediate enjoyment and the potential for short-to-medium term cellaring.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Joseph Roty is one of Burgundy's leading wineries with the largest cult following in the country. The family has been producing wine since 1710 and has 12 hectares (30 acres) of vines with an average age of over 60 years, producing a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines considered to be some of the best on the Côte d'Or. one. The core estate is none other than Joseph Rotti, himself a legend in the region who died in 2008 not only because of the quality of the wines, but also because of his reluctance to be interviewed by reporters and share details of their winemaking methods.
