Rayas, Chateau Des Tours Rouge Grande Reserve, 2015
🏰The 2015 Chateau des Tours Rouge Grande Reserve from Rayas is a 【generous and charming Southern Rhône red】, hailing from a vintage described as consistently good and offering great pleasure and character. The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape vintage, which this wine is closely related to, was marked by a hot, dry summer leading to excellent ripeness and rich, balanced wines. Expect a wine with beautiful deep, dark colors and aromas dominated by 【fresh black fruits, complemented by silky, fine, and elegant tannins】.
🍴 This expressive Grenache blend is incredibly versatile with food. It's magnificent with poultry, especially gamier birds like duck or pheasant, and excels with lamb in all forms. Consider pan-seared duck breast with a fruit glaze, roasted meats, or Mediterranean vegetables. Its fruity profile and soft tannins also make it a good match for mildly spicy foods or dishes seasoned with smoked paprika.
🥂 This wine is perfect for a hearty family meal, a gathering with friends, or a special occasion where you want a wine that is both enjoyable in its youth and capable of aging gracefully.
BACKGROUND
Château Rayas is a leading producer in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Rhône Valley, France. It is one of the region's most prestigious estates, and its wines fetch some of the highest prices in southern France. The estate covers 22 hectares, with 15 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Most of their vines are planted to Grenache. The estate's red wine is made solely from Grenache. The château's white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is generally made from Grenache Blanc and Clairette in roughly equaly proportions. Château Rayas has been in the Reynaud family since the 1880s.
