🏰 The 2017 Burgundy vintage was generally very good, marking a return to normal, even generous, volumes after the challenging 2016 season. Despite a cold snap in January and frost threats in April, preventative measures helped minimize damage. The summer was mostly warm and dry, leading to healthy, ripe grapes. The red wines, in particular, saw roaring successes, with many appellations delivering. They are characterized by magnificent balance, sweet, crystalline red fruit flavors, and a soft, silky, subtle tannic mouthfeel, reminiscent of the underrated 2000 vintage. The 2017 reds are not powerhouses but offer incredible harmony and are wonderful reflections of their terroirs. 【A very good vintage for Burgundy, offering magnificent balance and silky red fruit】.
Hudelot Noellat's Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru 2017 is expected to be a charming and elegant expression of Pinot Noir from this highly regarded appellation. Nuits-Saint-Georges wines are known for their structure and depth, and in a vintage like 2017, they should combine this with a lovely freshness and purity of fruit. Expect notes of red cherries, raspberries, and perhaps a hint of spice or earthy undertones, supported by fine, supple tannins. This wine is likely to be approachable now but will also benefit from several more years of cellaring to further develop its complexity.
🍴 This Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru would be an excellent partner for classic Burgundian fare. Think roasted duck breast, pan-seared venison, or a rich mushroom tart. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses like Comté or Gruyère.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a romantic evening, or a special celebration where a refined and expressive red Burgundy is desired. Its balance and elegance make it suitable for both immediate enjoyment and further aging.

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat primarily cultivates Pinot Noir. The estate was founded in 1960 and is located in the village of Clos Vougeot. The original owner, Alain, married the granddaughter of the renowned Charles Noëllat from Vosne-Romanée, bringing with her several valuable vineyard plots as dowry. The vineyards are primarily located in Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-St-Georges, covering a total of 6.6 hectares. The estate is currently managed by Charles Van Canneyt. In 2005, winemaker Vincent Munier joined the team.
