Francois Raveneau, Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru, 2013
🏰 The 2013 Francois Raveneau Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru is a beauty that's drinking great today, showcasing more classical minerality than is typical of the average 2013 Chablis. 【This Premier Cru Chablis offers a sensual nose with subtle hazelnut, smoke, and almost resinous scents, beautifully defined and verging on Riesling notes.】 The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with pleasing, mouth-watering salinity, easing back toward the finish with Granny Smith apples and a healthy dash of lemongrass. It's a rich, powerful Chablis with plenty of orchard fruits, caramelized citrus, quince, toasted nuts, and a kiss of charcoal and scorched earth on the nose. The wine hits the palate with richness and depth that turns more salty and mineral-laced on the finish. It opens up beautifully with time in the glass and is expected to drink well between 2017-2035.
🍴 This complex Chablis pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, especially seafood like oysters, grilled fish, and scallops. Its minerality and acidity also make it an excellent match for poultry, creamy pasta dishes, and goat cheese. Consider pairing it with richer preparations to complement its depth and toasted notes.
🥂 This wine is perfect for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or a serious wine tasting. It's a Chablis that can be enjoyed now and over the coming 10-15 years. Serve well-chilled, around 10-12°C, to best appreciate its vibrant acidity and intricate flavors.
