This 2004 Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is a 【captivating narrative of mettle and mastery】, as Ponsot transcended expectations in a challenging 2004 vintage marked by variable weather. The fruit from ancient vines bore testament to seasoned viticultural hands, creating a wine of substance that whispers tales of triumph. Expect an expressive bouquet with grace and complexity, and an impeccably balanced structure. The palate unfurls layers of ripe cherries and earthy undertones, complemented by persistent minerality, with silken tannins embracing potent fruit. Notes of black cherries, earthiness, herbal qualities (fresh thyme, cilantro), and char may also be present, leading to a deep, full-bodied, and quite long finish with impressive complexity.

This complex Pinot Noir works beautifully with food. It's an excellent match for duck, goose, and game birds. Consider pairing it with fresh sashimi, roasted venison, or a rich mushroom and truffle pasta. For a Cantonese touch, try it with roasted squab or a delicate braised abalone.
