Tortochot, Gevrey Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois, 2023
🏰 Domaine Tortochot's Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Jeunes Rois" 2023 is a vibrant expression of Pinot Noir from a site north of Gevrey, at the foot of the Premier Crus, crafted with organic viticulture and bottled unfined and unfiltered for purity. The 2023 vintage in Gevrey-Chambertin is anticipated to offer wines with a deep, luminous ruby color and a clear brilliance, signaling good concentration and a balance between density and freshness. Expect an expressive bouquet of fresh red fruits like crisp strawberry, cherry, Morello, and raspberry, lifted by gentle spices and a typical Gevrey-Chambertin underbrush nuance. With aeration, hints of forest floor may emerge, promising a silky texture and fidelity to its terroir.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French dishes such as duck, mushroom risotto, or grilled pork tenderloin. It also complements beef bourguignon, game, or slow-cooked stews, and aged cheeses like Comté.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special occasion where a classic, expressive red Burgundy is desired. Its youthful charm and potential for aging make it a delightful choice for both immediate enjoyment and future cellaring.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Tortochot is a wine producer headquartered in the village of Gevre-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits subdivision in the northern part of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. It specializes in the production of wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety and is famous for its wines from three premier vineyards. The winery also has four special wines, produced from their respective Grand Cru vineyards. The Tortochot family's viticultural history in Gevrey-Chambertin dates back four generations to 19th-century winemaker Paul Tortochot, and the current 12 hectare (30 acres) estate continues to be passed down to descendants.
