🏰 Henri Chauvet, a former insurance banker, settled in Auvergne in 2021, dedicating himself to revealing the remarkable terroirs of the region. His 'Abrupts' cuvée is a 100% Gamay, a blend from Chauvet's most beautiful Gamay terroirs on the historic, steep hillsides of Boudes, Auvergne. The wine is precise, vibrant, and chiselled, born from volcanic soils. The 2023 vintage for this wine is described as incredibly transparent and vibrant, with aromas of red currants, forest berries, crushed peppercorns, and a distinct basalt minerality. 【 A new landmark for Gamay, showcasing volcanic terroir and vibrant precision 】. It's medium-bodied with fine tannins and crisp acidity, offering plenty of transparency and texture on the palate.
🍴 This vibrant Gamay is highly versatile. It pairs wonderfully with meaty and oily fish, roasted chicken, charcuterie, or even a thick veal chop topped with sautéed wild mushrooms. For an Eastern pairing, consider Korean BBQ, Japanese yakitori, or a light Cantonese roast goose, where the wine's acidity and fruit can cut through richness.
🥂 'Abrupts' is an excellent choice for a casual yet sophisticated gathering, a summer barbecue, or a wine tasting focused on emerging French regions. Its lively character also makes it suitable for a lively dinner with friends or a relaxed evening on the patio.
