Laurent Ponsot, Bourgogne Cuvee Des Peupliers, 2022
🏰 The 2022 Burgundy vintage is celebrated for its excellent quality and consistency, producing "super-charming" red and white wines despite a hot and dry summer. Laurent Ponsot's Bourgogne Cuvée des Peupliers 2022 exemplifies this, showcasing "vivid red fruit" and an impressive structural backbone. The nose is radiant and perfumed, offering bright raspberries, cranberries, bitter cherry, evolving into sophisticated notes of violets, sweet spices, and forest floor. The palate is supple and sappy, with flavors of pomegranate and fresh cherry, a "beguiling sense of verve," and fine, well-integrated tannins, leading to a clean, palate-cleansing finish with stony minerality. Laurent Ponsot's commitment to zero new oak and early picking has preserved a remarkable "crunch" and floral lift, keeping the wine fresh rather than heavy. 【Laurent Ponsot's modern, tech-forward approach with zero new oak and early picking for freshness, even in a warm vintage.】
🍴 This versatile red pairs wonderfully with a range of dishes. Consider a "Bistro" match like Filet of Beef with Morels or a Game Terrine, where its earthy acidity balances richness. For a casual vibe, try Lentil Salad with Smoked Bacon or Grilled Summer Vegetables. It's also a classic with charcuterie, prosciutto, Comté cheese, and walnuts, cutting through salt and fat with ease. Other suggestions include chicken and turkey.
🥂 Perfect for a long lunch with friends, a casual gathering, or an evening where a refreshing yet flavorful red is desired. Serve slightly chilled (14°C-16°C) to highlight its vibrant fruit and floral notes.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Laurent Ponsot is Laurent Ponsot who resigned from Domaine Ponsot in early 2017 and established his own business in Burgundy with his son.
