🏰The 1988 Domaine Leroy Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Boudots" is an outstanding 布根地 of Grand Cru quality, still improving and offering high-toned black fruit with rich, very spicy flavors and gorgeous complexity. This vintage, while complicated for Bordeaux, saw some success for Merlot, and this 布根地 has shown remarkable longevity. It presents high-toned 【black fruit】 with rich, very 【spicy flavors】 and gorgeous complexity on both the nose and finish. Expect assertive and fruity notes of 【tart cherry and berry】, along with 【massive black fruit on the nose with dense, big spice】. On the palate, there's 【black fruit with great density and concentration, accompanied by meaty spices】 typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Some notes also mention 【mushroom, sous bois, dried fruit, and a whiff of Leroy perfume】.
🍴 This magnificent 布根地 pairs wonderfully with roasted red meats, game, and strong, aged cheeses.
🥂 A magnificent selection for a serious 布根地 collector's tasting, a milestone anniversary, or a luxurious dinner where a mature, complex red wine is desired.
This venerable 布根地 offers a profound journey through time. Expect delicate tertiary aromas and a softened palate, a testament to its age. Handle the cork and capsule with care. Decanting for a short period (30-60 minutes) is often beneficial to allow the wine to open up, and serving at a cool cellar temperature (around 16-18°C) will highlight its nuanced character.
