🏰 The 2007 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered a lighter, more elegant year, producing wines that were charming and approachable earlier than some blockbuster vintages. Claude Dugat's Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is a highly sought-after wine, known for its intensity and purity of Pinot Noir expression. The 2007 from Dugat, while perhaps not as concentrated as other vintages, offers a beautiful, more delicate side of this esteemed Grand Cru. 【 A delicate and elegant expression of a Grand Cru 】. It takes time for these wines to open up, with notes of flowers, wild berries, sweet dark fruit, and minerals emerging after aeration. While the mid-palate might show some vintage character of being slightly hollow, it is very elegant and pretty, drinking beautifully now. Serve at around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
🍴 This refined Grand Cru Burgundy would be exquisite with roasted duck, pan-seared game birds, or a delicate mushroom risotto. Its elegance also makes it a good match for aged cheeses. For an Eastern pairing, consider a light soy-braised chicken or a delicate steamed fish with ginger and scallions.
🥂 Ideal for a connoisseur's tasting, a romantic dinner, or any occasion where a truly special and nuanced red Burgundy is desired. It's a wine that rewards patience and appreciation of subtle complexities.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Claude Dugat is a Burgundian producer in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. This prestigious small winery produces only a small amount of Pinot Noir wine, with its most popular wines coming from designated Grand Crus. The domaine was founded by Claude's father in 1955, when he purchased a 13th-century building and converted it into a winery and cellar. Dugat bottles three Grand Cru red wines from Griotte-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, as well as two Premier Cru wines.
