🏰From the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, the 1996 D'Auvenay Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres 1er Cru is a wine of 【stunning complexity and incredible density】, often described as Grand Cru quality despite its Premier Cru status. This vintage, particularly strong for white Burgundies, reveals a youthful palate with vibrant acidity, offering notes of 【floral, chrysanthemum, sweet spices, cold herbs, roasted nut, and a touch of honey】. Expect a rich, opulent profile with pineapple, tropical fruits, citrus, peaches, and apricots, all harmonized with exquisite finesse.
🍴 This magnificent white Burgundy demands equally refined pairings such as roasted lobster with butter sauce, truffle-infused pasta, or pan-seared foie gras. For cheese, consider aged Comté or a rich, creamy Brie.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a milestone celebration, a serious collector's tasting, or a truly unforgettable gastronomic experience. This is a mature wine, and while it shows incredible youthfulness, be mindful of the cork and capsule condition upon opening.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
