🏰news | features + short tasting note IN ENGLISH
【A legendary Hermitage from a celebrated biodynamic producer, showcasing the profound depth of Syrah from century-old vines.】 The 1997 vintage in the Northern Rhone was good, producing concentrated and structured wines, especially from Hermitage. These were early maturing, soft wines from an early harvest, with generally low acidity, offering pleasure and jammy flavors. This wine displays a saturated purple color with an intense nose of blackberry liqueur, floral scents, smoke, licorice, tar, and Chinese black tea. It's decadently rich with massive body, wonderful concentration, and a long finish of liquorice, tobacco, and cocoa.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH
This powerful red pairs beautifully with hearty red meats like beef rib, game such as hare stew or venison, and mature goat cheeses. Consider pairing it with a rich Cantonese braised beef brisket or a slow-cooked lamb shank with star anise.
🥂 fit for event suggestion IN ENGLISH
Perfect for a special anniversary dinner or a sophisticated tasting session with fellow wine enthusiasts. It's a wine that invites contemplation and appreciation of its evolved character. As a mature wine from 1997, expect some delicate sediment. Stand the bottle upright for several days before opening. Carefully remove the cork, which may be fragile. Decant gently for about an hour to allow its complex aromas to unfold, but only shortly before serving to preserve its delicate nuances. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
