🏰news | features + short tasting note
The 2014 Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru is an extraordinary wine, 【rated a stunning 98 points by Neal Martin, who declared it 'a serious wine for serious Burgundy lovers' and 'one of the highlights of the vintage'】. Henri Jayer famously described this vintage as "A Chambertin raised in Vosne," highlighting its exceptional finesse. This Grand Cru showcases an exquisite cherry red color and a powerful, fruit-driven bouquet with layers of cranberry, pomegranate, and raspberry preserves, complemented by delicate hints of forest fruits, undergrowth, and spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with supple, noble, and silky tannins, offering succulent black fruit laced with tobacco and white pepper, leading to a structured, grippy, and remarkably balanced finish that promises excellent cellaring potential. It's a pinnacle expression of Ruchottes, exuding elegance and purity with a wonderful burst of minerality.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH
For this magnificent Grand Cru Burgundy, consider sophisticated Cantonese pairings like roasted pigeon with crispy skin, braised abalone with mushroom, or delicate pan-fried beef tenderloin. Western dishes such as duck confit, beef Wellington, sautéed wild mushrooms, or roasted game birds like goose would be sublime. It also pairs wonderfully with rich, local cheeses like Ami du Chambertin.
