Meo Camuzet, Chambolle Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru, 2020
🏰 The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was notably precocious and concentrated, with Jean-Nicolas Méo commencing harvest on August 23rd, yielding a fine vintage. Méo-Camuzet's Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru from this year is a testament to their success in warm vintages, producing wines that are vibrant, concentrated, and beautifully balanced, with considerable aging potential. It exhibits aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with rose petals and loamy soil. The nose can also present dark cherry, raspberry, anise, and subtle oak, sometimes with delicate spicy and mentholated notes. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, lively, and concentrated, with a taut, mouthwatering character, fine depth, and powdery structuring tannins. While youthfully austere, it promises to evolve beautifully with a few years of cellaring. 【Concentrated and vibrant Premier Cru with significant aging potential】.
🍴 This elegant yet structured red Burgundy is a fantastic partner for a range of dishes. Classic pairings include roast duck, beef bourguignon, and mushroom risotto. It also complements charcuterie beautifully. For Eastern cuisine, consider Peking duck, char siu (Cantonese BBQ pork), or even miso-glazed aubergine or shiitake stir-fry.
🥂 An excellent choice for fine dining experiences, special celebrations, or as a valuable addition to a cellar for future enjoyment. Its complexity and aging potential make it a rewarding wine for those who appreciate the evolution of fine Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
