🏰 The 2013 Esporão Quinta dos Murças VV47 is a field blend from old vines, with "VV'47" referencing Vinhas Velhas (old vines) and the vineyard's 1947 origin. This single-parcel wine comes from the top of the quinta, described as the "oldest vertical vineyard planted in the Douro." It was aged for 12 months in used French oak. The 2013 vintage in the Douro produced wines that are massively concentrated, firm, and properly mature.
This wine is generously rich and open, with firm but ripe tannins. It's a powerhouse of spice, black fruits, and structure from wood aging. Robert Parker noted it as nicely structured, a little compact, and not especially expressive, but with beautiful finesse. Wine Enthusiast awarded it 94 points, highlighting its rich black fruit and spice flavors. 【 From the Douro's oldest vertical vineyard, a field blend of 14 grape varieties 】
🍴 Described as a perfect food wine. Its rich and intense character, with black fruit and spice, suggests pairings with beef and venison.
🥂 An impressive wine that can be enjoyed now or aged further, suitable for a sophisticated dinner or a special occasion.
