🏰A flagship Grand Cru from David Moret, the 2016 Corton-Charlemagne Chardonnay is immediately distinguished by its concentrated nose of honey and nutmeg, leading to a creamy, spicy palate with ripe fruit and an infinitely long, pure finish, designed for graceful aging. David Moret, an independent négociant, established his label in 2000, specializing in white wines, and is known for his meticulous approach, using a maximum of 40% new oak to highlight terroir. This Grand Cru is produced from small yields, harvested in cagettes, and aged for 14-18 months in 50% new oak. It is recommended to age this white Burgundy for five years to enjoy its full potential. The nose is concentrated with aromas of honey, nutmeg, and a touch of butter, displaying a classic Chardonnay character. The palate offers oak flavors, a creamy structure, light spice, and ripe fruit, leading to a very pure, spicy finish with significant concentration and an infinitely long persistence. Notes of caramel and brioche also emerge.
🍴 Excellent with roasted chicken, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Rich seafood or creamy pasta dishes would also be superb.
🥂 A prestigious wine for a formal dinner, a significant celebration, or for cellaring to appreciate its full potential.
