🏰 The 2017 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, offering a welcome contrast to the challenging 2016 season. Domaine Méo-Camuzet's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 is a testament to this, showcasing wines with an appealing easiness and drinkability, yet possessing really good complexity that beautifully reveals the nuances of its site. This Grand Cru presents a deep, faintly toasty, and serious nose, with roundness, good depth, and layers of rich perfumed fruit, all balanced with a fine touch. It offers a bright, fresh character with layers of concentration and a lovely finishing intensity, underpinned by a serious mineral rigor. The wine is silky yet powerful, with a touch more mineral depth to its flavor, rippling with finishing energy and a subtle hint of tannin. It's an 【appealing 2017 Grand Cru offering easiness and drinkability with really good complexity, revealing its site very well】.
🍴 This exquisite Grand Cru Burgundy is a superb choice for sophisticated food pairings. It harmonizes beautifully with roasted duck, goose, and other game birds. Consider pairing it with smoked venison with parsnip purée, grouse with blackberry sauce, or a classic fillet steak with béarnaise sauce. Aged Gruyère cheese would also be a delightful accompaniment.
🥂 This Méo-Camuzet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 is ready to drink now and will continue to evolve. It's an excellent choice for a celebratory dinner, a special gathering, or for those who appreciate a complex and elegant Grand Cru Burgundy that offers both immediate pleasure and further aging potential.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
