FEATURES
🏰 The 2018 Arpepe Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva Ultimi Raggi is a 【heroic mountain Nebbiolo, crafted from late-harvested, vine-dried grapes at high altitudes, resulting in a powerful, intensely aromatic, and age-worthy wine of exceptional complexity and elegance】. This "really special" alpine Nebbiolo benefits from grapes slightly dried on the vine at 600 meters, undergoing long maceration and extended aging to achieve its profound character. Expect an intense ruby red color with a wide, enveloping bouquet of ripe cherries, blackberries, sweet spices, alpine herbs, dried flowers, tobacco, and mineral nuances, often hinting at graphite, game, and earth. On the palate, it's robust, juicy, and structured, with concentrated fruit flavors, silky yet dusty tannins, refreshing acidity, and distinctive notes of tobacco, pepper, and a hint of soy sauce, leading to a long, persistent, and extraordinarily elegant finish.
🍴 This complex and structured Nebbiolo pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes. Think traditional Valtellinese Bresaola, pasta with meat sauce, game dishes, roasted and grilled red meats and poultry, or hearty beef stews. It's also an excellent match for aged hard cheeses, especially local Bitto, or other complex preparations that can stand up to its extraordinary aromatic profile.
🥂 This "still young" Riserva is drinkable now but will truly shine from 2026 onwards, with potential to evolve beautifully until 2036 and beyond. It's a wine for serious connoisseurs, perfect for a special occasion or as a prized addition to a long-term cellar. Serve at 15-16°C (59-61°F) and allow it to breathe for at least an hour in a large Nebbiolo glass to fully appreciate its intricate layers.
