🏰M. Chapoutier's Saint Joseph 'Le Clos' 2016 is a powerful and expressive Syrah, hailing from a producer celebrated for their **biodynamic farming and profound terroir expression**. The 2016 vintage in the Northern Rhone was highly regarded, yielding wines with excellent structure and aromatic intensity. Expect a complex bouquet of dark fruit like cherry and blackberry, graphite minerality, black pepper, and hints of smoked meat, leading to a concentrated palate with fine, silky tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish.
🍴 This robust Syrah is an ideal partner for roasted lamb shoulder, grilled beef tenderloin, game dishes like venison, or hearty lentil stews. For an Asian pairing, consider it with Cantonese roast duck, spicy Sichuan beef, or a rich Korean BBQ.
🥂 Perfect for a special dinner, a gathering of Rhone wine lovers, or for cellaring to enjoy its further evolution.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
