FEATURES
🏰 The 1986 Champagne vintage was reasonably good, with a homogeneous and satisfactory ripeness of the three main grape varieties, particularly Chardonnay. While most wines from this year lacked the capacity for long-term aging, 1986 generally offered average quality for Champagne.
Taittinger's Comtes de Champagne Rosé 1986 is a rare and prestigious vintage cuvée, produced only in exceptional years. It is crafted from 100% Grand Cru grapes, with Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. Only the juice from the first pressing is used to ensure the structure and long aging potential essential to this exceptional Champagne. Notably, 12% of the Pinot Noir is blended in as still red wine. This 1986 edition is the sixth release in the collectible Taittinger Collection series, featuring a unique bottle design by abstract artist Hans Hartung. It is the maison's rarest cuvée.
This mature Champagne, even at its advanced age, delivers great energy and vibrancy with a touch of effervescence. It presents an excellent nose of red and yellow apple, sweet strawberry, raspberries, and cream, with juicy fruit, plump plum, traces of grapefruit, and powdered sugar. The color was a pure salmon. It features extraordinarily delicate bubbles and a fresh, highly refined nose with complex aromas of wild strawberries, morello cherries, and black currants, complemented by hints of fresh almonds and licorice.

🥂 This rare and prestigious Champagne is ideal for celebrating a significant anniversary or a truly special, intimate gathering. Its age adds a layer of historical charm. As a mature vintage Champagne, handle with care; the cork may be fragile, so use a reliable opener. Serve well-chilled, but not ice-cold, to allow its complex aged aromas to unfold. Decanting is generally not recommended for old Champagne, as it can dissipate the delicate effervescence and aromas. Enjoy its evolved character and subtle effervescence.
🍴 It pairs beautifully with light cured meats, veal, pork dishes, ribs, fruit salad, and berry desserts. It also complements meaty and oily fish, grilled mackerel with roast cauliflower and baby turnips, or even creamy Brie and strong blue cheeses.
