FEATURES
🏰 The 2001 Burgundy vintage was generally very good, though it presented challenges with a cold, wet winter and spring leading to uneven flowering. Hailstorms in August affected parts of Meursault, and September was cool and cloudy with intermittent rain. Despite this, some excellent white wines were produced, particularly from Meursault, showcasing good vigor and acidity. While specific tasting notes for Michelot 2001 are limited, Meursault Les Tillets typically offers aromas of lime blossoms, refreshing citrus, and mineral notes. The palate is mineral-driven, well-balanced with racy acidity, and flavors of citrus, apples, and white stones. With age, Meursault can develop notes of honey and hazelnut. 【A village wine from a prime Meursault climat, known for its mineral backbone and elegant expression of Chardonnay】.
This 2001 vintage is now over two decades old, and while many white Burgundies from this period are past their peak, well-stored examples can still offer a delightful experience. Expect evolved aromas of honey, nuts, and a richer, more complex palate. Older corks can be fragile, so open with care. Decanting is generally not recommended for older white wines unless there's significant sediment, and even then, a gentle pour is preferred to avoid excessive oxidation. Serve slightly chilled, around 12-14°C, to allow its nuanced bouquet to unfold.
🍴 This Meursault pairs wonderfully with subtle and fine-textured fish or meat, such as grilled lobster, crawfish, king prawns in garlic butter sauce, or poultry and veal with white sauce. Dishes with aromatic and crisp textures, creamy sauces, and even blue cheese are excellent matches.
🥂 Perfect for an elegant seafood dinner, a special occasion, or as an aperitif to impress discerning guests.
