The 2002 E. Guigal La Mouline is an 【amazing effort from a challenging vintage, showcasing Guigal's mastery and producing an outstanding wine】. La Mouline is one of the legendary "La La" trio, emblematic of the Guigal domain. Despite 2002 being a very difficult year in the Northern Rhône, Guigal's expertise, including short maceration to avoid green tannins, resulted in a wine of remarkable quality. It displays a ruby red color with red vermillion tints, offering an intensely aromatic nose of small red fruits, blackberry, floral violet, complex meaty notes, spice, smoke, and bacon. On the palate, it's supple and balanced, with a creamy texture and flavors of black cherry compote, hoisin sauce, mineral, black tea, vanilla bean, and dark cocoa, leading to a long, supersilky finish with fine-grained tannins. It's more elegant than a powerhouse, fully mature, and greatly expressive of its terroir.
