🏰 The 2004 Gaja Barbaresco Costa Russi comes from a very good to excellent vintage in Piedmont, producing wines with great structure and aging potential. 【From the legendary Gaja, this iconic single-vineyard Barbaresco is renowned for its elegance and aromatic complexity, showcasing classic Nebbiolo characteristics.】 Expect profound aromas of tar, roses, cherry, licorice, truffle, and earthy notes. With this being a mature vintage, tertiary notes of leather, dried herbs, and forest floor are prominent. The palate is full-bodied, with firm but integrated tannins, high acidity, and a long, complex finish, where the fruit has evolved from fresh red berries to dried and stewed fruit.
🍴 This superb Nebbiolo is a perfect match for traditional Piedmontese cuisine, such as truffle dishes (tajarin with white truffles), braised meats (brasato al Barbaresco), rich pasta dishes, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, game meats, or roasted lamb.
🥂 An excellent wine for a special Italian-themed dinner, a celebration of Piedmontese winemaking, or a tasting focused on mature Nebbiolo. It is ready to drink now, but still holds potential for further graceful aging.
Serving Suggestion: Decant for 1-2 hours to allow it to breathe and separate any sediment. Serve at 17-19°C (62-66°F) to fully appreciate its intricate bouquet and evolved palate.
