🏰The 2020 Burgundy vintage is largely considered excellent, benefiting from favorable weather conditions that enabled optimal grape ripening. Pierre Girardin's Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2020 is a 【powerful and elegant expression from a rising star of the Côte de Beaune】. It displays a bright garnet-red color and an expressive nose of fresh red fruits like cherry and blackberry, enhanced by notes of coffee and licorice. The palate is broad and generous, with supple, well-integrated tannins providing a velvety texture, leading to a long, fruit-driven finish with remarkable aromatic persistence. While some find it brooding and tightly-knit in its youth, it offers great aging potential.
🍴 This Grand Cru Burgundy pairs perfectly with red meats in sauce, such as duck in blood sauce or lamb with prunes. It also elegantly complements furred game like venison, beef roasts, grilled cuts of meat, and aged Burgundian cheeses.
🥂 This wine will happily wait a few years before reaching its peak and can be cellared until around 2035, making it ideal for a grand dinner, a special celebration, or a serious Burgundy tasting. Decanting for one hour before tasting is recommended to allow its full complexity to unfold.
