🏰 The 1997 Maison Leroy Cote de Beaune Villages is a testament to Lalou Bize-Leroy's uncompromising quality and extraordinary network of trusted growers across Burgundy, offering an accessible entry point into the revered Leroy universe. 【This 1997 vintage is remarkably dense in color, with mature aromas of cured meat and very concentrated dark fruit.】 From a riper vintage, the richness of the fruit is evident, yet it maintains good balance on the palate with plenty of acidity and resolved tannins. It's described as being at a beautiful point of maturity, unlikely to gain from further aging, but with sufficient density to hold for another five to ten years. Expect a pure Burgundian character with bright fruit, subtle earthiness, and an elegant structure.
🍴 This mature Cote de Beaune Villages is versatile at the table, pairing well with roasted poultry, grilled meats, and mushroom dishes. Given its developed savory notes, it would also be excellent with duck, goose, and other game birds. Consider dishes with earthy undertones or those featuring cured meats to complement its aromatic profile. Medium-aged cheeses would also be a delightful match.
🥂 Ideal for a special dinner celebrating a milestone, a sophisticated gathering with fellow wine enthusiasts, or a quiet evening to appreciate a beautifully aged Burgundy. Its current maturity makes it perfect for immediate enjoyment, but it still has the structure to hold for a few more years. Serve at a cool cellar temperature (around 16-18°C). Given its age, be mindful of the cork, which may be fragile. A brief decant might be considered to allow any sediment to settle, but prolonged aeration is generally not necessary for wines at their peak maturity.
