🏰 The 1994 Louis Jadot Musigny Grand Cru is a testament to the aging potential of fine Burgundy Pinot Noir. The 1994 vintage in Burgundy was considered a good, if not exceptional, year, producing wines with decent fruit and acidity that have aged gracefully. Expect a wine that has evolved beautifully, showcasing complex tertiary aromas of dried roses, forest floor, truffle, and subtle spice, alongside lingering red fruit notes. 【 A rare and beautifully aged Grand Cru Burgundy from a respected producer 】.
🍴 This elegant and mature Musigny Grand Cru would be exquisite with refined dishes such as roasted squab, pan-seared duck breast with cherry reduction, or delicate mushroom risotto. For Eastern pairings, consider subtle preparations of game birds or aged, savory cheeses.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly special occasion, perhaps an anniversary or a milestone celebration, where its rarity and complexity can be fully appreciated.
Serving Advice: Given its age, this wine should be handled with care. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24-48 hours before serving to allow any sediment to settle. A gentle decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving is recommended to allow the wine to breathe and reveal its delicate aromas, but avoid excessive aeration which can diminish its fragile nuances. Be mindful of the old cork and use a Durand or Ah-So opener to prevent breakage. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
BACKGROUND
Louis Jadot is a prominent Burgundy wine producer and négociant. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the primary grape varieties featured. The house was established in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Jadot. The company has seen several leadership changes: Gagey's son Pierre-Henry took over as president in 1991, Gagey died in 1999, and Lardière retired in 2012. Frédéric Barnier, who joined in 2010, is now the head winemaker, and Thibault Gagey has joined his father Pierre-Henry in leading the firm.
