🏰 【From the legendary Domaine Leroy, this 1991 Pommard Les Vignots hails from a lieu-dit often considered Premier Cru quality, showcasing extraordinary depth and concentration.】 The 1991 vintage in Burgundy, though uneven for reds, produced wines of strength and significant aging potential. This particular bottle offers a great bouquet, with bright, round, and overripe red cherry notes, complemented by earthy aromas. Expect intense concentration, remarkable purity of fruit, and layers of floral, mineral, and spice, all wrapped in a silky texture with exceptional length. Powerful on the nose with blackcurrant and red berries, its elegance on the palate confirms its tannic strength.
🍴 This robust Pommard is a perfect match for refined dishes like roasted game, premium meats, or truffled preparations. It beautifully complements grilled or braised red meats, hearty game dishes, and traditional favorites such as beef bourguignon. Consider pairing it with spicy or peppery dishes, or a rich lamb or beef stew. Aged washed-rind cheeses like Epoisses or Comte would also be a delightful pairing.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated tasting event with fellow Burgundy enthusiasts.
Serving an older vintage like this 1991 requires a gentle hand. Ensure the bottle has been stored undisturbed for some time. Carefully remove the cork, inspecting for condition. Decanting is often recommended for older red Burgundies to allow sediment to settle and the wine to breathe, but do so just before serving to preserve delicate aromas. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
