🏰From the legendary Domaine Leroy, this 1991 Nuits Saint Georges Les Vignerondes is a testament to Lalou Bize-Leroy's uncompromising biodynamic philosophy, yielding a wine of 【incredible intensity and profound longevity】 even from a challenging vintage. Expect a complex tapestry of developed tertiary notes, including forest floor, mushroom, leather, and game, gracefully mingling with lingering dark fruit like dried cherry and plum. The palate offers good acidity and fine, integrated tannins, showcasing the wine's elegance and depth.
🍴 This profound red Burgundy pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes such as roasted duck with a cherry reduction, classic beef bourguignon, or earthy mushroom and truffle preparations. For cheese lovers, aged Comté or a pungent Époisses would be an excellent match. For an Asian twist, consider a slow-cooked Cantonese beef brisket or a rich Peking duck.
🥂 Ideal for a serious tasting among dedicated Burgundy enthusiasts, a milestone anniversary, or a special dinner where a truly profound and aged red wine is desired. For optimal enjoyment, stand the bottle upright for several days before opening. Use an Ah-So opener or a Durand for the potentially fragile cork. Decant carefully if sediment is present, but only for a short period (30-60 minutes) to allow it to open without losing delicate aromatics. Serve at 16-18°C. Kindly remember that with wines of this venerable age, cork and capsule condition can vary, adding to the anticipation of discovery.
