🏰 The 1995 Domaine Leroy Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is a 【profoundly concentrated and intellectual wine, showcasing the exceptional depth of Burgundy's Pinot Noir】. While still "painfully tannic and backward" in its youth, it reveals a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, balsam, and spice, with a palate rich in cassis, blueberry, and black cherry fruit. Expect evolving notes of leather, earthy undertones, and hints of seasoned wood, leading to a persistent and gracefully evolved finish. This vintage, though mature, promises further intrigue for those who appreciate the nuanced journey of aged Grand Cru.
🍴 For this mature red Burgundy, consider pairings that complement its evolving complexity. Think rich, flavorful dishes like roast duck with cabbage, game birds, or even sweetbreads. Subtly flavored game or braised lamb would also be excellent choices, allowing the wine's tertiary aromas of leather and stewed dark fruits to shine.
🥂 This is a wine for a special, contemplative evening, perhaps a milestone anniversary or a gathering of serious wine connoisseurs. Serve it with reverence, allowing ample time to breathe. Given its age, be mindful of the cork and capsule, and decant carefully to separate any sediment. Serving temperature should be around 16-18°C (60-64°F) to allow its intricate aromas to unfold.
