🏰 The 2018 Lamy Caillat Chassagne Montrachet Grande Montagne 1er Cru hails from a highly respected Chardonnay region. The vineyard's unique shallow soil and well-exposed slopes, coupled with cool nights and hot afternoons, contribute to wines with remarkable tension.
This Chardonnay is medium to full-bodied, showcasing a compact structure and a gently oily texture. It reveals greenish flavors, hints of sour tropical fruits, exotic herbs, salted caramel, red apple peel, guava, and chalk. Some tasters also note overwhelming honey, stone fruit, butter, and hazelnut, describing it as super elegant with a slightly smoky nose.
🍴 It pairs beautifully with pasta, rich fish like salmon or tuna, mild and soft cheeses, and cured meats. Classic pairings for Chassagne-Montrachet also include lobster, shellfish, chicken, turkey, and goat cheese.
🥂 An elegant choice, this wine is perfect as a sophisticated start to an evening or for refined dinners and special occasions where a well-crafted white 布根地 is desired. While enjoyable now, opinions vary on its extensive aging potential.
