🏰The 1994 Henri Jayer Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux 1er Cru is a legendary and exceptionally rare wine, representing the pinnacle of Burgundy Pinot Noir from a master vigneron. Even in a challenging 1994 vintage, Jayer's meticulous craftsmanship and unique approach yielded a wine of 【unparalleled purity, intensity, and profound elegance】. Expect a mature, complex bouquet of dried red fruits, exotic spices, forest floor, truffles, and a haunting floral perfume, with a silky, ethereal texture and an incredibly long, nuanced finish that speaks of its extraordinary terroir and Jayer's genius.
🍴 This iconic and rare Burgundy demands the most exquisite and subtle food pairings. Think classic, refined French dishes such as roasted Bresse chicken with truffles, delicate pan-seared foie gras, or a simple preparation of wild game birds like partridge or pheasant. The focus should be on allowing the wine's intricate flavors to dominate. For an Eastern pairing, a very refined Japanese wagyu beef prepared simply, or a delicate steamed fish with minimal seasoning, would be appropriate.
🥂 This is a once-in-a-lifetime wine, reserved for the most significant celebrations, a profound tasting experience, or a dedicated collector's ultimate indulgence. Given its extreme age and rarity, handle with utmost care; expect a very fragile cork and potential sediment. Decant very gently, just before serving, to separate from sediment, and serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Be prepared for the possibility of bottle variation and savor every drop.
BACKGROUND
Henri Jayer is a Burgundy red wine producer known for making some of the most acclaimed and expensive Pinot Noirs in the world. Jayer retired from winemaking in 2001 and died in 2006, leaving the winery to his nephew Emmanuel Rouget, with all vintages since 2001 released in his name. Henri Jayer's wines were produced in limited quantities and in dwindling quantities, making them some of the most collectible and expensive wines in the world. While critically acclaimed, the reputation of Jayer wines was further enhanced by the emergence of wine-related books such as the Japanese manga series Drops of God. The brand itself was founded by Jayer when he inherited 3 hectares (7 acres) of land in the Côte d'Or, which included land in the Grand Cru Echézeaux vineyard.
