🏰 The 1995 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, producing wines with good structure and aging potential. Haegelen Jayer Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, from a producer with a connection to the legendary Jayer name, offers a 【rare glimpse into a classic Grand Cru from a strong vintage】. Clos Vougeot is known for its powerful and complex red 布根地, typically showing notes of red and black fruits, forest floor, spice, and often a hint of game or truffle as it ages. The 1995 should be beautifully evolved, with softened tannins and a long, savory finish.
🍴 This mature Grand Cru is superb with roasted game, truffle-infused dishes, slow-cooked beef, or aged hard cheeses. For an Asian pairing, consider Peking duck or braised abalone with mushrooms.
🥂 An extraordinary wine for a very special occasion, a significant anniversary, or a serious tasting among connoisseurs.
Kindly note that for a wine of this age, the cork and capsule may be fragile. We recommend careful opening and decanting to fully appreciate its evolved character. While older vintages can be magnificent, individual bottle conditions may vary.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Haegelen-Jayer, like Domaine Henri Jayer, is a now-defunct estate, with 2009 being its final vintage. Located in the village of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy, France, the winery primarily cultivated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. It was established by Henri Jayer's niece, Madeleine Jayer, and her husband, Alfred Haegelen.
