🏰 The 2004 Georges Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a highly esteemed red Burgundy from one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most revered producers. The 2004 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered a challenging year, often referred to as a 'Pinot Noir vintage' due to cooler temperatures and some rot issues, but the best domaines, like Roumier, produced wines of remarkable purity, freshness, and classic Burgundian character. This Grand Cru, from the Ruchottes-Chambertin vineyard, is known for its elegance and aromatic complexity. It typically displays a luminous ruby color. On the nose, expect a delicate yet profound bouquet of red berries, wild strawberries, rose petals, and forest floor, intertwined with subtle notes of spice and a distinct minerality. The palate is medium-bodied and graceful, with silky tannins and bright acidity, offering flavors of pure red fruit, savory earth, and a long, ethereal finish. 【 A rare and elegant Grand Cru from a legendary Burgundy estate 】. This wine is mature and drinking beautifully now, showcasing the finesse that Roumier is celebrated for.
🍴 This refined Burgundy is an exquisite match for delicate yet flavorful dishes. Consider roasted guinea fowl with wild mushrooms, pan-seared duck breast, or a classic beef bourguignon. It also pairs wonderfully with mild, earthy cheeses like Brie or Comté. For an Eastern pairing, try a delicate Cantonese roast pigeon or a savory Japanese sukiyaki.
🥂 The 2004 Georges Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is ideal for a very special occasion, such as a significant anniversary, an intimate gourmet dinner, or a focused tasting among serious Burgundy aficionados. Its rarity and pedigree make it a cherished experience for any discerning wine lover.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Roumier is a wine producer based in the Côte de Nuits village of Chambolle-Musigny that produces some of the most expensive, best-rated and most popular wines in Burgundy. The winery did not purchase the land directly, but used the French sharecropper/lease system, in which individuals farmed the land for the owner in exchange for a certain percentage of agricultural products. Now, Christophe has taken over the work of the winery and has become the owner of the winery. The current winemaker of the village. He pays close attention to terroir, so little new oak is used, and fermentation temperatures are kept low to allow the wine’s delicious flavors and aromas to shine through.
